New COVID-19 Protocols Are Going Into Effect!
January 1, 2022
Dear Chelsea Foot and Ankle community,
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City in March 2020, our primary commitment has been to maintain a safe office environment and stay open so we can help our patients when they need us. In light of the recent COVID19 surge in New York City due to the emergence of the Omicron variant we are instituting the following changes, effective January 1, 2022:
- Every patient must be “fully vaccinated” in order to be seen. “Fully vaccinated” in our office means that you are as protected as you can be to stop transmission of the virus. This means that every person in our office must be at least two weeks past the final shot of a CDC-approved COVID-19 vaccine series. Whether you received the Moderna, Pfizer, or J & J vaccine, a booster is the final shot in the series if it has been more than 6 months past your second dose of Moderna or Pfizer, or more than 2 months since your first shot of the J & J vaccine. If you are due for a booster but have not yet received it, you will not be allowed in our office.
- We must see proof of your vaccination prior to arriving at our office. You may email a photo of your vaccination card or a screenshot of your Excelsior Pass or other vaccine passports to our front desk. Anyone who fails to provide this information cannot be scheduled.
- Patients with verified medical exemptions can and will be accommodated.
- Unvaccinated individuals with a documented recent resolved COVID-19 infection (prior 4 weeks) will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the latest guidelines from the CDC and the NYC Department of Health regarding individuals with that health status.
These changes are being implemented to protect our doctors, support staff, and our patients. The data is clear that a full series of vaccinations is highly protective against COVID-19 and extremely effective in reducing the chances of severe disease, hospitalization, and death. We appreciate your understanding and full cooperation with our vaccination policy. This will enable us to continue to provide the highest level of service you expect in the safest possible environment we all deserve.
Best wishes for a healthy, safe, holiday season and a happy new year.
Dr. Ciment, Dr. Collins, Michael, and Robert
