A new study in this week's Journal of the American College of Cardiology finds that, "Running, even 5 to 10 min/day and at slow speeds < 6 mph, is associated with markedly reduced risks of death from all causes and cardiovascular disease." Here at Chelsea Foot & Ankle we see many serious running injuries that occur when non-runners decide to take up running. Like any sport or fitness activity, there is a right way to run. If you undertake running incorrectly, there is a very high chance of injury, particularly to your feet and lower extermities.
If you or someone you know is considering taking up running-- even light, slow running-- PLEASE CONSULT AN EXPERT FIRST! Dr. Ciment and Dr. Kantor treat runners of all sorts and would be happy to help you to get running, safely.
